A three-time Olympian and one of the greatest players ever to take the field for the US sevens team, Perry, 38, has stated that the Paris Olympics will be the last international tournament of his career. That said, his intention is to lead the US Eagles Sevens to an Olympic medal.

A football player at Fairmont State University in West Virginia, Perry was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles before a knee injury forced him to give up that dream. He then turned to rugby, where he quickly established himself as a standout player after making his debut in 2014. He is the USA’s all time leading try scorer, a record that he set after just three years with the team.

Perry was named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in both 2017 and 2018. His retirement plans center around spending more time with his wife and their three sons, while also remaining involved in the sport of rugby through coaching.
