Mitchell fought his way onto the Paris, his first Olympic appearance, after he finished as one of the top three saber fencers in the USA Fencing point standings. His ability as a world class fencer is illustrated by the fact that, in 2023, he was a key member of the US men’s saber team that claimed a bronze medal at the 2023 World Fencing Championships in Milan.
While attending Harvard, Mitchell was a two-time individual Ivy League saber champion (2020, 2022), a three-time first-team All-Ivy League selection and a two-time All-American.
He takes a holistic approach to his daily training, focusing on the mental aspects as well as the physical and incorporating meditation, journaling, ice baths, red light therapy and a strict dietary regimen, including raw dairy, grass fed meat and no alcohol.
Mitchell’s love for fencing, and particularly the slashing elements of the sabre, was inspired by the Star Wars movies. His hobbies include skiing, practicing piano and guitar, and playing video games.
