Third time’s the charm for Kirsten, who, at age 32, will be making her Olympic debut in Paris after missing out on the team in the 2016 and 2020 Games. Kirsten is no stranger to success on the international stage, as she is a 17-time World Triathlon podium finisher and has earned gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the 2016, 2017 and 2018 World Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships.
Kirsten was a star runner at Georgetown University prior to starting her triathlon career in 2014, when she earned USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year honors. She is married to Matthew Sharpe, a Canadian triathlete who competed in the Tokyo 2020 Games. They live in Boulder, Colorado.
