Her parents being members of the NYAC, it is appropriate that Kate spent many of her early summers logging miles in the pool at Travers Island. Those formative seasons paid dividends. After graduating from Pelham Memorial High School in 2019 as the top-ranked recruit in the country, she enjoyed a tremendous collegiate career at the University of Virginia (where she competed alongside her future NYAC teammate Paige Madden), becoming a 15-time NCAA champion and being named the 2023 ACC Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Tallying her accomplishments in both long and short course competitions, Kate is a 26-time world championships medalist, with 11 gold medals, nine silvers and six bronzes. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she contested the 200m individual medley, swimming the fastest times in both the prelims and the semis, and then taking the bronze medal in a personal best time of 2:09.04.
At the 2024 US Olympic trials, Kate competed in the 100m freestyle, 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, winning all three, breaking the championship record in the 200m breaststroke, and setting a new US mark of 2:06.79 in the 200m individual medley.
