A 17-time world championships medalist, including eight golds, at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, Hunter claimed a gold medal as a member of the US men’s 4x100m medley relay team.
For these Paris Games, he secured his place on Team USA by finishing second in the 100m backstroke at the US Olympic Trials, held in Indianapolis in June, recording a time of 52.72 seconds. He followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 100m freestyle, clocking a personal best time of 47.78 seconds and securing a place as a member of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay squad.
Hunter has earned the nickname “The Magic Man” because of his skill as a magician. He also enjoys musical theater.
